Charles bridge
Old Town square
All the colors around gave me some inspiration, and I made this market bag.
Market bag in “Desiqual” design pattern
Size: Cca 38cm x 38cm (15” x 15”), handle cca 55cm (22”)
The size really depends on type of material and size of the hook you are using, which is up to you.
One square 12,5cm ( 5”)
You need:
I used 200 grams (7 oz – 500 meters – 546 yards) of Himalaya Everyday Anti-pilling 100% acrylic
For the assembling and the flower I used cca 25 grams of (120 meters) of Red Heart Margareta
Crochet hook E/3,5mm
Terms/Abbreviations: I used US terminology
ch chain
slst slip stitch
sc single crochet
dc double crochet
st stitch
Purse body:
You need to make 16 squares. I used classic full granny squares, but feel free to use any kind of square with any design. One square I made measured cca 12,5cm ( 5”) but again it’s up to you how big or small you’ll make the square.
Start with a magic ring or ch4 - join with slst.
1st round: Ch 3 ( count as dc )– 2dc into the ring, ch2 - 3dc into the ring, ch2 - 3dc into the ring, ch2 - 3dc into the ring, ch2, slst. into 3rd ch from first ch 3, do not turn.
2nd round: Ch 3 ( count as dc ), dc in next 2 st, 2dc – ch2 – 2dc in ch2 from previous round (corner), dc in next 3 st, 2dc – ch2 – 2dc in ch2 from previous round (corner), dc in next 3 st, 2dc – ch2 – 2dc in ch2 from previous round (corner), dc in next 3 st, 2dc – ch2 – 2dc in ch2 from previous round (corner), slst. into 3rd ch from first ch 3, do not turn.
3rd – 4th – 5th – 6th – 7th rounds: follow schema from 2nd round
On my bag I made 7 rounds.
Assembling:
I crocheted the squares together, using contrasting color yarn, with sc from the right side of the bag. I have to admit I had a little trouble to imagine how my bag will look, so I safety pinned it together before assembling.
For assembling you can also use technique I found here.
Handle:
For the 55cm (22”) I crochet 121 ch, sc into second ch from the hook and sc in each following ch. I made 4 rows of sc’s – the handle is around 2,5cm wide. Fasten off. Make the second, then sew or crochet the handles to the bag,
Finishing:
Make one or two rows of sc’s around the handles and the top of the bag.
You can add a little flower I found here.
Pattern: crocodile flower
Ch 7, slst. to the first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1 : *Ch 10, slst. into the ring*, repeat from * to*, join with slst. in first ch – (7 times –10ch loop)
Rnd 2 : *sc, hdc, 8 dc, ch 2, 8 dc, hdc, sc* in each 10ch-loop, around, join with slst. in first sc. Fasten off. – (7 petals)
Put a nice button to the middle.
If you come up with any problems or difficulties, write to me, and I’ll be more than happy to help.
Have a nice week
Clara
