Simple "3-square" shoulder bag - free pattern

 Hello,

I'm still looking for something new that might interest you. The design for this shoulder bag is very simple and yet it has so many variations.

Size: (this bag) approx. 47cm (19”) bottom width, 47 cm (19’’) height without handle. Handle approx. 45cm (18’’) long and 4cm (1,6’’) width.

One square approx. (you need 3): 33cm(13’’)x 33cm(13’’)

To crochet basic squares, I used the chart you can see above. You can vary the size of your bag by using different type of material and size of hook and/or adding/taking off the rows on this basic squares.

I used 100% cotton yarn and a H/5mm crochet hook for this shoulder bag. I also lined my bag - I sewed a simple three squares and sewed them onto the crochet square before assembling the bag together.

I also added tassels and a magnet to close the purse.

As a handle you can make, for example, a twisted cord as long as you wish. I made handle you can see below.

Have a nice week

Clara

String market bag – written pattern

I’m getting many requests for a written pattern for this market bag. I didn’t have one, so I decided to make it. In the last fortnight I have been crocheting this market bag, writing down the pattern for it, just to make sure I have got the pattern right, I crocheted another market bag based on my pattern. I didn’t realize how time consuming it is. I do have a great admiration for those of you who are writing patterns on regular bases.

The pictures are to help guide you through the crocheting, and supporting the written pattern for this market bag.

My bag is approx. 50cm (20’’) wide, 40 cm (16’’) high, the handle will be as long as you will make it, in this case 25cm (10’’) x2.

I used leftover yarn suitable for J/10/4/6mm hook.

Note: Yarn I´m using is mostly from local sources. Please don't ask me what alternative yarn I can recommend you! It is impossible for me to know what kind of yarn you have available in your country. As we all know, it varies not only from country to country, but also from city to city. You can find an alternative yarn according to your own sources. Thank you.

I offten  providing patterns for free, but on this one due to the time and effort spent on it, I have had to provide this one for symbolic price only, and you can find it here:
