Crochet denim clutch bag - free pattern

Today I would like to share with you the instructions for a crocheted clutch bag. It is quite handy on its own or you can put it in a large purse and still have everything organized and close at hand.

The instructions are quite simple and even a skilled beginner can handle them.

The size of the finished clutch bag is 30cm (12") in width and 20cm (8") in height. The total length of the handle is 40cm (16") folded in half.

As a material/yarn, I used leftovers the soft t-shirt yarn I had from another project. But it is possible to use practically anything, what suits your needs and the corresponding size of the hook (I used 5mm/H/6).

Prepare:

- crochet rectangle 40cm(16") x 30cm(12") according to the diagram/chart shown below. How big your clutch bag will be depends only on you, just keep in mind that the basic chain row must be divisible by two. Below the pictures is a link to a video tutorial that can help you with the stitch/sample.

 - because the bag is lined, you will need to sew a small rectangle from the lining that matches the size of the crocheted rectangle.

- you will also need a zipper of the appropriate length and some hardware.

And now it's just a matter of putting the clutch bag together according to the picture.
I hope you will create a nice, modern accessory for yourself, that you will enjoy.

Have a nice day

Crossbody bag with fur flap

 Hello,

This time I would like to share with you one of my other projects.

I tried a combination of a crocheted crossbody bag with a fur flap. In fact, I used the instructions for a handbag that I made in the past:

This bag is 34cm (14´) high and 33cm (13´) wide. It is made of solid twine yarn. I added an adjustable strap, a lining and a fur flap.

I used recycled faux fur on the flap. I do not have a great sewing experience, but I tried to do my best. And, maybe being a little immodest, I think I did very well.

I believe a very nice shoulder bag resulted from my efforts, which is very interesting and easy to maintain.

Have a nice week

Denim Shopper

Hello,
lately I have been mainly concentrating on sewing, especially denim recycling and up-cycling. I'm not a professional, so it takes me much longer to make bag or purse, than it should, but I think it's worth the effort.
I do most of my creations for myself, friends or for girls in my family.
I'm particularly proud of this shopper, so I want to share it with you.
For this bag/shopper I used older jeans in combination with matt silver leatherette. I bought both at a charity store nearby.
Dimensions: adjustable width 40-50x2cm (16”- 20”), height 37cm (14,8”), depth 17cm (6,8”), handle 50cm (20”).

Have a nice day

Backpack and sacks – denim re-purposing ideas

Hello,
For the Summer I made a backpack for myself, and sacks for both my daughter and me.
Take these pictures as denim re-purposing inspirations.

I’m not a professional sewer and I have very little sewing skills, all from Youtube only. I wouldn’t dare to write instructions of how to make those items. You can see you don’t really need much to make nice fashionable sacks. Just a bit of dedication, few pairs of interesting jeans and some stickers, bubbles or buttons you find at home. I got most of the material in local charity stores – all for less than 10 pounds.
My only enemy was the time – I did “waste” quite bit of time thinking and preparing how to do it. But I’m not sorry; the bags came out excellent. We are using them a lot; perfect for holidays or school and nobody else has got the same one.

Have a nice day

Recycled denim bags

Hi,
As you might know already I really love to make bags and purses. I’m experimenting with combining crocheting and sewing to make some of my bags. You can see these in my earlier posts.
The past few weeks I was working on my first fully sewn bags. I used my favorite material-denim. To be more specific recycled denim, which I’m getting in my favorite charity store. The varieties are endless and it keeps the cost of material reasonably down.
As I mentioned before I only have minimal sewing skills and I –with some (big) help from Google –managed it.
The star shoulder bag you can see right below is measuring: cca 44cm x 37cm(17,6” x 14,8”), handles 50cm(20”).

The fold over bag you can see right below is measuring: cca 35cm x 45cm(14” x 18”), handles 50cm(20”).

I hope you like the bags as much as I do. I would like you to take this post as an encouragement to all of you, who are not professional tailors, and would like to try to sew something for yourself. It can be done with a little bit of dedication.

Have a nice week
